What makes your program different?

I have witnessed too many times that people have never had a doctor sit down with them to truly understand what their problem is and let them know that there is another way! A way that leads to health and doesn't merely mask the symptoms of a disease.

So many people come to us because they feel like they aren't getting true answers in the conventional model of care, which is usually focused on suppressing (often with medications) the symptoms of a problem. The system is reactive and not proactive.

We empower and educate you to better manage chronic diseases such as diabetes, hormone imbalance, fatigue, digestive issues, obesity and more. I have designed a special curriculum so we can assist you in REVIVING your health and your life by helping you take control. We will coach you along your path to health. Our aim is not to "treat" your chronic disease but rather to restore your body back to health.

We do this by figuring out the underlying root cause of why you feel so terrible. We take the time to sit down (for an hour!) and go over all of your important health factors and issues with you. We order the functional lab tests that we feel are appropriate to get the entire picture and we design a specific path to get you back to health. I know that your health is more than just some "numbers" on outdated diagnostic lab tests. So we'll also look deeply into the genetic, environmental and lifestyle interactions influencing your chronic health condition.

I hear time and time again; "My doctor said my lab tests look good but I still feel sick, fatigued and my mind is foggy. And my medications make me feel even worse."

My functional medicine approach is different, we will sit down and determine together what your body needs to get back to health. We look at your body and your lifestyle and remove things that are creating poison and toxins so your body can function the way it is designed to function.

That is the keyword: Function. Our current healthcare system is not set up to improve people's function.

Why are so many turning to functional medicine for help?

Back in the 20th century as infectious diseases were running rampant, health care stimulated vaccinations, medicines, sanitation and so on. Now in the 21st century, we face rising death tolls from chronic diseases.

Ask yourself, are the major hospital systems following this trend as the population shifts to need different care to treat their chronic conditions, or are they still following a protocol strongly influenced by insurance and pharmaceutical companies? When was the last time a doctor visit lasted you more than 5-10 minutes and you walked out with actionable ways you can take back your health?

We offer a systems approach to your health that is personalized for your needs. It's a partnership between us that empowers you to take ownership of your health trajectory.

Our patients at Ravenna Chiropractic and Acupuncture receive our time and attention, as well as guidance to work with your other doctors to reduce or even eliminate your reliance on medications as your health improves.

What are some of the common symptoms that people seek out your help?

Some of the most common issues our patients come to us with include Reduced Energy Fatigue, Brain Fog, Digestive Disorders, Stubborn Excess Weight, Hormone Imbalance, Anxiety/Depression, Joint Pain, General Inflammation, and Diabetes. However, we also treat those that feel well now and would like to know what it takes to feel their best for a lifetime.

How do you work with my other doctors?

If you would like us to keep your primary care physician or specialists updated, we will gladly do so. We often work with our patients' doctors to reduce and many times eliminate their reliance on medications as your health improves.

Is this program a quick fix?

If you are ready to take action to control your health without drugs or surgery, we are ready to help you! Our model is not a quick fix. We used lab-based protocols to restore health and recommend appropriate supplements and nutraceuticals to restore health naturally.

Our approach is based on educating our patients so they have the knowledge and the mindset to make a lifestyle dedicated to the prevention, early assessment, and improved management of complex, chronic disease while correcting core chemical imbalances and restoring each patient's functionality and health to the greatest extent possible.

This form of care matches each person's lifestyle to his or her unique healthcare needs providing him or her with a path to move from the conventional medical model toward a more personalized natural approach.

How do my genetics play a role?

Genes may put people at risk for certain conditions, and their choices further push them toward illness. Functional medicine works to distance people from those risks by encouraging healthy decisions and lifestyle choices. Functional medicine empowers the patient to take charge of their health and does not label the patient with a "disease" for which they receive a drug to fix said "disease".

Functional medicine recognizes that each person is unique. Not everyone gets diabetes, autoimmune diseases or heart disease for the same reason. Your genetics are just one of the puzzle pieces we use to put a plan in place to help restore your health.

How soon can I get an appointment?

Dr. Blueter takes a set number of new patients each month. This is to ensure each patient gets his full attention. Contact us for availability and to get on the schedule.

What happens at the initial consultation with Dr. Blueter?

Dr. Blueter will spend one hour with you to learn about your health history and goals. This initial consultation is an assessment of your health and recommendations on what tests will be needed to understand the state of your body systems. You will discuss the timeline of the program, including your next steps of scheduling the exam and any classes that may benefit you.

What is taught in the classes?

The purpose of the Orientation Class is to provide an overview of what to expect over the coming months. We review the informative and fun classes in the program that will help to dispel myths, provide education and give hope to those with long-term health and wellness problems.

Our classes are held at designated times and dates, and the atmosphere is fun and informal with the emphasis on patient education to provide the most out of your program. We take a broad look at the program and begin to discuss the dietary transitions that will be learned in the Detox Class.

Among the detailed topics are the eight top most common food allergies, understanding organic food labels, benefits, and claims, and learning what really is in American meat and dairy.

We are always detoxing. This program simply allows the major players in the detox process to "catch up" and get the gunk out of the system so everything is running more efficiently once the detox program is complete.

You will learn just how bad you have been eating (even if you have been reading labels and thought you were eating "healthy"). You will find several new foods and food combinations that you truly enjoy and will be able to continue with your new healthy lifestyle for decades to come.

You NEVER have to eat anything that you do not like. And by the end you will have wished you did this years ago.

Our nutrition class will teach you how to implement proper nutrition for the decades to come for a life full of health and clear-mindedness. We take an in-depth look at what foods are good, what are bad (you will be surprised at the conflict between what you used to know and what you learn in this class).

Our patients learn how to easily fit healthy living and nutrition into their work and social life. As well as learn how to hit the "reset button" to get you back on track, why are some foods just plain bad, what constitutes a "superfood" and why you should "eat the rainbow".

This class is taught by our Certified Exercise Physiologist. Everyone has different fitness goals, motivations and capabilities. Our patients go through an individual fitness assessment so we can design an exercise program specific to you. We do not expect our patients to perform an exercise routine that you will despise for the rest of your life.

There are many ways to get exercise, we will find what works best for you and what best fits your personality, motivations and abilities in the exercise program that is right for you.

In our exercise class, we break down the physiology of exercise. We review all the fads and facts of exercise (spoiler alert: there is no such thing as 6-minute abs). We discuss how exercise enhances sleep, digestion and mood, and the different forms of exercise and their specific competitive advantages to health.

The Stress Management Strategies Classes are taught by a licensed professional therapist that is trained in functional medicine and holistic therapy. Stress management is such an area of need for so many people, that we can't fit it all in one.

Therefore, two stress classes along with group sessions (when needed) are offered. Some stress and anxiety are a normal part of life. However, when one is under long-term stress caused by ongoing situations such as work or family problems, financial concerns, etc. the body will be in a constant heighten state - a state that has harmful effects on many bodily systems including the immune system, digestive system, cardiovascular system, endocrine system, and reproductive system.

This class teaches our patients how to better manage stress, the difference between good and bad stress, the physiology of stress, the long-term consequences of uncontrolled stress and simple yet effective methods to manage your stress.

Our patients don't sleep through this class. They learn when to sleep and how much sleep is needed for good health. We also discuss how sleep (or lack thereof) affects the various organ systems. We examine simple lifestyle changes to improve your sleep and discuss all of the physiologic functions of sleep.

Our last class takes a look at how our patients can keep and add to the progress they have made. By this point in the curriculum, most have lost a significant amount of weight, have a whole lot more energy, improved mental clarity and lost the need for many prescription medications.

Our mission is to revive your health so that you can continue it for a lifetime. We go over keys to maintaining this new lifestyle and offer our support.

Can I purchase supplements elsewhere?

Not all patients require supplements. For those that do, Dr. Blueter recommends supplements from high quality and reputable manufacturers that can only be purchased with a practitioner's recommendation.

Dr. Blueter creates plans based on specific supplements and dosages based on the exact ingredients. He will thoroughly explain the benefits to those supplements he feels is best for your needs and send you a link to set up your own account. Dr. Blueter has done years of research to find the best options for his patients.

There may be certain times that he might recommend a product you can purchase directly from a retailer such as Amazon. When this is the case, he will be certain to provide you with the exact product information.
